- Lewis Addition Drummond was the 4th president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Professor of the History and Theology of Evangelism. The service opens with a word of prayer from Dr. George Braswell (00:00-02:14). President Lewis A. Mr. Little acknowledges the great responsibility of spreading the gospel and making disciples as seen in Matthew 28, and states there are some basic elements for going ahead with the green light to spread the gospel (31:08-34:11). The first of the elements is communication and the language that is used (34:11-41:02). The second element is the element of love, which he says Jesus most exemplified himself (41:02-47:34). The third element is the element of truth, meaning that all that is done is done in the power of the Holy Spirit (47:34-53:45). He concludes his message by reviewing the elements needed to fulfill the Great Commission well and reminding the audience that Jesus is with his people throughout the mission (53:45-55:53). Mr. Little closes chapel in prayer (55:53-56:23).

He says it requires the sacrifice of the steward’s interest so that the gospel might go forward (25:20-32:05). He states that choice is the highest compliment a steward can be paid by God and that stewards must make hard decisions in order to help the gospel spread (32:05-36:00). The gospel is for all the earth and when we are saved, we must go tell everyone (36:00-39:50) He discusses the great potential of the Southern Baptists to share the gospel with the world (39:50-47:00). Dr. Parks closes the chapel in prayer (47:00-48:32).

He transitions into a story about Count Zinzendorf’s prayerful reflections on the work of Christ and the response we will have for Christ as a result (07:53-09:25), and he uses that story to recapture his previous two aspects of gospel ministry (09:26-12:24) and place an emphasis on the cross of Christ in gospel ministry (12:25-15:22). Considering what we will do for Christ in response to His death on the cross for us, Max Eller quotes Matthew 28:19 and the opening passage from Matthew 10, going on to place the question in specific relevant contexts around the world (15:23-22:41). He then closes with prayer (22:42-23:11), and the service ends with singing (23:12-24:00). The last minute of the audio is silent (24:01-25:04).

Even its individualized interpretation over the years has resulted in talking about “what we are doing” instead of “what God is doing” (11:38-15:23). His text is taken from Acts 1, and he warns that discipleship has become the job of those called into professional ministry, when it is the necessary responsibility and call of God for every Christian. We can only have compassion for the world by being disciples of Jesus Christ, and we must be willing to go wherever God may call us (15:24-25:17). Obeying the Great Commission becomes less about what you do and more about the witness you become in Christ (25:18-27:29). We cannot depend on enthusiasm and faith by themselves to carry out this work, but we must depend on the Holy Spirit (27:30-34:43). He ends the service in prayer, but the words seem to cut out before he is done speaking (34:44-35:51).
