  • Joseph Mitsuo Kitagawa was Professor Emeritus and Dean of the University of Chicago Divinity School. (Kitagawa was an eminent Japanese American scholar in religious studies. He is considered to be one of the founders of the field of the history of religions.) The service opens with a word of prayer from 0:00-1:36. 1 Corinthians 13 is read from 1:43-4:36. A prayer is offered from 4:55-7:12. An excerpt from the Gospel of Luke is read from 7:15-9:38. Rev. Kitagawa speaks from 9:57-52:01.
