Dr. Lewis Drummond was the fourth president of SEBTS. Dr. Drummond is announced (0:00-0:10). A hymn is played (cut) (0:11-2:05). A word of prayer is followed by a hymn (cut) (2:06-3:00). George Beaseley-Murray is welcomed along with a few others (3:01-5:35). Beasley-Murray gives a word prayer (5:36-8:27). The choir sings a hymn (8:28-11:00). Dr. Drummond addresses the congregation and speaks of preaching on “the great texts of the Bible” (11:01-12:10). He reads from Romans 12:1-2 (12:11-13:43). He gives a word of prayer (13:44-14:16). Dr. Drummond discusses that we can all be used by God according to His will (14:17-16:31). He provides a brief summary of the first eleven chapters of Roman (16:32-20:36). He then considers chapter 12 and speaks of surrendering our bodies to God—to give all that we are to Him (20:37-23:43). Dr. Drummond expresses Paul’s teachings within these two verses: do not conform to this world, but transform through the renewing of the mind so that we can see with God’s eyes (23:44-29:31). He explains that the purpose of these verses is to prove what is the will of God (29:32-29:56). He refers to the biblical story of when the prophet Samuel had to correct King Saul for his disobedience of God’s will (29:57-32:09). Obeying God’s will is what really matters in life (32:10-32:40). Dr. Drummond pledges to do the will of God, though he knows he will sometimes make mistakes, and challenges the congregation to do so as well (32:41-35:10). He concludes with a word of prayer (35:11-36:12).

At the time of this recording Tommy Tillery was a second year ADiv student at Southeastern. The title of this message was “Too Far, Too Long.” Chapel begins with a congregational reading (0:00-0:57). Introductions of the various leaders of the chapel service are given (0:57-3:07). Another speaker brings prayer requests for various students (3:07-4:40). Students lead in song (4:40-8:33). The audience is led in a prayer of confession (8:33-10:12). A student shares his personal testimony with a focus on finding one’s purpose (10:12-18:14). Students lead in the song “Consider the Lilies” (18:14-21:45). Tommy Tillery introduces his sermon focused on Genesis 3:1-5 and reads the passage to teach on temptation and sin (21:45-23:57). He discusses the destruction of sin, its damage to witness and ministry, and the importance of being obedient to Christ (23:57-41:18). Mr. Tillery closes in prayer (41:18-42:28).

4. SEBTS Founder's Day Address - William Claudius Strickland March 12, 1985

Descrizione:
William Claudius Strickland was one of the five original faculty members of SEBTS. The service begins with “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” being played on the organ (00:00-02:46). President Randall Lolley gives a word of prayer, he welcomes everyone to Founder’s Day, and he presents Warren Poe and his wife for the presentation of an award (02:47-08:35). Poe present the award to Daniel Stanley (08:36-10:36). William Claudius Strickland is introduced as the Founder’s Day speaker (10:37-13:22). The choir sings the anthem (13:23-16:10). Strickland begins his sermon with a word of prayer, and he reads from six New Testament passages (16:11-23:26). In the first part of his sermon, Strickland tells the story of the German scholar, Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy (23:27-29:42). 5. SEBTS Commencement - Jack Harwell May 15, 1981

Jack Harwell was the General Editor of The Georgia Christian Index. The service begins with a Scripture reading from John 1 and a word of prayer (00:00-00:40).
