This collection contains 62 annual reports of the Randolph Baptist Association, founded in 1935 in North Carolina. They met in various locations, but often in Randolph County (N.C.). Years covered are: 1935 - 1996.
The graduation service begins with the reading of Scripture which is also used as Dr. Elizabeth B. Barnes's source text from 0:00-3:58. The passages of Scripture were Isaiah 6:1-8, 61:1-3, and Luke 4:14-21. Dr. Barnes, Associate Professor of Theology, gives her address from 4:06-24:13. She tells the senior class that God wishes to use them to spread the Gospel as they depart from the seminary. She encourages them to honor God by helping the oppressed and living a Gospel-based lifestyle. Dr. Barnes notes that Jesus will help them as they go out and begin living a missional life. Lewis Addison Drummond was the fourth President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. President Drummond gives a message on Romans 1:14-16. Drummond begins the service by asking students to share some praiseworthy stories of how God is working through their lives. Dr. John William Eddins, Jr. (Professor of Theology at SEBTS 1957-1993) is the speaker and preaches for the entirety of the audio recording. Dr. Eddins encourages the students to be courageous and unafraid to stand up and share your faith. Eddins shares that it should be our highest aim in life to please Jesus. Hardy Clemons was the pastor at First Baptist, Greenville, SC. Rev. Clemons preaches from 0:00-16:20 from Ephesians 1:19-20. Clemons discusses and describes the power of God and how believers have access to such power. He reminds the students that trusting in the Lord gives them strength. Marvin L. "Marty" Reid was Professor of Greek and New Testament at SEBTS. Dr. Reid begins the service by giving a prayer and reading the source text for the sermon: Luke 4:1-13. The sermon is informally titled, "Strategy for the Ministry." Reid gives a 3 point sermon on the 3 pitfalls we must avoid when we are in the ministry, and the way to overcome these pitfalls is to be like Jesus, who allowed Himself to be directed by the Holy Spirit. Roger Eugene Nix, Adjunctive Professor of Supervised Ministry and pastor of Temple Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC, leads a dynamic worship experience for the students at SEBTS. Rev. Nix offers a responsive reading and introduction from 0:00-1:47. A student leads a prayer from 1:47-2:49. Another fellow student leads a responsive reading from 2:55-4:30. Roger Nix speaks from 4:35-15:00. During this time he reads 2 Timothy 2:11-13 along with Ephesians 4:11-13, offers a prayer, time of reflection, and ends with a short story.
