This collection contains over 3,100 audio recordings of chapel messages and special events related to SEBTS administrators, faculty, and students. These materials date from 1958 to 2008 and were produced by SEBTS. The collection also contains some text files with information related to these events.
Raymond Bryan Brown was Professor of New Testament Interpretation and Academic Dean. An opening word of prayer is offered from 0:00-3:35. Music plays from 3:36-4:04. Dr. Brown speaks from 4:05-19:52. Brown encourages the students to let the fire of their hearts burn continually for God.
Robert G. Bratcher was from the American Bible Society. The service begins with an introduction to the speaker from 0:00-2:55. Dr. Bratcher speaks from 3:08-46:52. He delivers a message on the role of missions across the globe.
James Winslow was a local pastor and graduate of SEBTS. Exodus 3:1-12 is read from 0:30-4:17. James Winslow speaks from 4:30-15:24. He admonishes the chapel to be a “Moses”. A closing prayer is offered from 15:25-15:49. This service was organized by the Student Coordinating Council.
Robert Culpepper was a missionary to Japan. The service begins with an announcement on the prayer calendar for missionaries from 0:00-1:10. 2 Corinthians 5:14-6:2 is read from 1:14-3:52. A prayer is offered from 3:53-5:33. An introduction to the speaker is given from 5:41-8:18. Dr. Culpepper speaks from 8:30-51:44. Culpepper shares how the power of the gospel has been powerful on the mission field.
The John D. Wood, Sr. sermon collection is comprised of audio recordings of messages and sermons created or collected by Elder John D. Wood, Sr. The sermons are taken from a number of Biblical texts and cover a variety of topics. Though Primitive Baptists do not believe in formal ordination of their ministers, Elder Wood was a well-known and respected speaker in the Primitive Baptist community. The majority of these sermons fall between 1956-1979.
