This collection contains over 3,100 audio recordings of chapel messages and special events related to SEBTS administrators, faculty, and students. These materials date from 1958 to 2008 and were produced by SEBTS. The collection also contains some text files with information related to these events.
The service opens with music from 0:00-3:35. Opening remarks and an introduction to the speaker is given from 3:45-4:30. Music plays from 4:45-6:20. A litany of thanksgiving is offered from 6:30-7:33. There is a prayer from 7:40-10:30. More music plays from 10:44-12:47.Several speakers share what they are thankful for from 12:51-24:20. This service was Southeastern's Thanksgiving celebration service.
The John D. Wood, Sr. sermon collection is comprised of audio recordings of messages and sermons created or collected by Elder John D. Wood, Sr. The sermons are taken from a number of Biblical texts and cover a variety of topics. Though Primitive Baptists do not believe in formal ordination of their ministers, Elder Wood was a well-known and respected speaker in the Primitive Baptist community. The majority of these sermons fall between 1956-1979.
James Leo Green was Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament. In this message, He shares on grace out of Titus 2 in preparation for the Christmas season. The service opens in prayer from 0:00-2:37. An offering request is given from 2:39-4:28. Dr. Green preaches from 4:30-28:26.
Raymond Eugene Owens was Associate Professor of Preaching. An opening prayer takes place from 0:00-0:35. Dr. Binkley introduces the speaker from 0:40-2:47. Owens speaks from 2:53-16:16. Dr. Owens preaches on the personal ministry of sharing one’s faith and missions. Dr. Binkley closes the service from 16:27-17:19.
Robert E. McClernon was the pastor of Watts Street Baptist Church in Durham, NC. Dr. Binkley opens the service with the scripture reading of Luke 4:16-29 from 0:00-3:00. He introduces Rev. McClernon from 3:04-5:43. McClernon speaks from 6:03-25:56. He preaches from Luke 4 on how Jesus defies humanity’s expectations of who we would want Jesus to be.
B. Elmo Scoggin was Professor of Old Testament. The service begins with prayer from 0:00-3:16. Scoggin speaks from 3:22-13:52. Scoggin exhorts the students to trust in God and all that He can do for them. Closing music plays from 14:03-15:04. The service closes in prayer from 15:20-15:35.
