    Description:
    Porter Routh was the head of the Executive Committee in the Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Stealey opens the service with announcements and an introduction to the speaker from 0:31-5:10. Dr. Routh gives a message entitled “Seminary Education and the World Task.” Routh notes how we should be prepared and well-equipped to share the gospel with the nations. He states that we should be concerned with the state of the people of this world. Dr. Routh speaks from 5:13-31:07. Dr. Stealey invites Dr. Routh to close the service in prayer from 31:08-32:56.

  • President Binkley Inauguration October 17, 1963

    The inauguration of Olin Trivette Binkley as the second president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The service begins with a prayer from 0:00-1:01 by Dr. James Archibald Jones. Dr. James Leo Green and Dr. William Claudius Strickland read Isaiah 6:1-13 and various verses from Ephesians 4 from 1:17-7:44. Dr. Porter W. Routh gives the Address from 7:46-30:11. Former president, Dr. Stealey, offers the inaugural prayer from 30:16-34:41. The chapel service sings "The Last Words of David" from 34:59-38:37. Dr. J. Glenn Blackburn performs the Installation of the President from 38:39-44:07. Dr. Binkley gives his inaugural address from 44:11-1:09:17. The chapel performs the seminary hymn form 1:09:40-1:13:19. Dr. W. Perry Crouch gives the closing prayer from 1:13:21-1:15:17. Closing music plays from 1:15:23-1:18:48.

    Description:
    Porter W. Routh was the Executive Secretary Treasurer of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. The service begins with a Scripture reading and a word of prayer (00:00-01:39). Porter W. Routh is introduced as the chapel speaker (01:40-04:12). The choir sings a song of worship (04:13-08:50). Routh begins his sermon by reading from Galatians 6:7-10 and speaks about the reality of turning 70 (08:51-14:57). Routh gives three pieces of advice take as one ages, and the first is to take responsibility (14:58-17:26).
