- Dr. Lewis Drummond was the fourth president of SEBTS. Dr. Drummond is announced (0:00-0:10). A hymn is played (cut) (0:11-2:05). A word of prayer is followed by a hymn (cut) (2:06-3:00). George Beaseley-Murray is welcomed along with a few others (3:01-5:35). Beasley-Murray gives a word prayer (5:36-8:27). The choir sings a hymn (8:28-11:00). Dr. Drummond addresses the congregation and speaks of preaching on “the great texts of the Bible” (11:01-12:10). He reads from Romans 12:1-2 (12:11-13:43). He gives a word of prayer (13:44-14:16). Dr. Drummond discusses that we can all be used by God according to His will (14:17-16:31). He provides a brief summary of the first eleven chapters of Roman (16:32-20:36). He then considers chapter 12 and speaks of surrendering our bodies to God—to give all that we are to Him (20:37-23:43). Dr. Drummond expresses Paul’s teachings within these two verses: do not conform to this world, but transform through the renewing of the mind so that we can see with God’s eyes (23:44-29:31). - William Claudius Strickland was one of the five original faculty members of SEBTS. The service begins with “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” being played on the organ (00:00-02:46). President Randall Lolley gives a word of prayer, he welcomes everyone to Founder’s Day, and he presents Warren Poe and his wife for the presentation of an award (02:47-08:35).
