David R. Beck was Professor of New Testament and Greek. He opens his sermon with an encounter he had with a statue of Jesus in the belly of Brontosaurus (00:00-03:47). Beck reads from John 12:20-36, and he first says that Greeks addressing Jesus is a trigger point for his ministry showing that the gospel is for the whole world (03:48-08:01). Most Beck’s sermon centers on the ultimate purpose of Jesus’ ministry that the Greek who came to him did not understand, that he was to be the one who would take away their sins (08:02-31:16). Beck ends the service with a word of prayer (31:17-33:06).
Martinsville Primitive Baptist Church was founded on October 28, 1899, and located in Martinsville, Virginia. Several names are used throughout the records books including Primitive Baptist Church at Martinsville, Martinsville Primitive Baptist Church, the Church Street Primitive Baptist Church Martinsville, Virginia, and Chatham Heights Primitive Baptist Church. Reference is made to the church meeting at a new location in Chatham Heights in 1963 which may explain some name variation. He gives a word of prayer (03:41-04:50). Before reading his passage, Carson speaks on the hard yet convicting ministry of pastoring and preaching (04:51-08:45). He exegetes 1 Corinthians 4:4-10, and he preaches on the importance of being fools for Christ (08:46-20:34). He continues to verses 11 and 12 to say that we can endure the hardships of life because we know the God we serve, and we have the promise of heavenly wisdom (20:35-28:31). The Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Catalogs are published by Southeastern Seminary to provide information for each academic year. The earliest catalog was published in 1951. Catalogs were sometimes published in connection to the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Bulletin and most contain information for one academic year, though some cover multiple years. The catalogs provide an academic calendar and a brief introduction to the seminary, its facilities, and the community. Further information includes curriculum and class offerings, details regarding admissions, and registers of students, faculty, staff, trustees, and graduates. Subcollections for the 1990s and 2000s include CASE catalogs for the college.

The Enquiry began as a resource for student discussion on various topics to help facilitate conversations but also included campus announcements and news. The publication ran from 1964 until at least 1995.
News and Information produced campus news articles for Southeastern. Events such as faculty news, trustee updates, and school events were commonly covered in its reports. Items in the collection that were undated were given approximate dates according to internal information and other records, and those approximations were noted in item descriptions.
