1. SEBTS Chapel - C. Y. Dossey November 3, 1965

Description:
The service opens with Scripture reads from Psalm 24:7, Isaiah 40:3, Isaiah 40:5, and 2 Corinthians 4:6, (00:00-00:43) followed by an introduction for C. Y. Dossey and Julian Hopkins. Dossey was from the Division of Evangelism of the Home Mission Board (now the North American Mission Board), and Hopkins was the Secretary of the Division of Evangelism of the Baptist Convention of North Carolina. Hopkins read the sermon text, 1 Corinthians 1:17-25, and prayed before Dossey gave the sermon (00:44-06:00). Dossey began his message by highlighting the effective witness of the first-century Christians, and he challenges his listeners to have effectual ministries as well (6:01-07:10). First, we need a renewal of authoritative preaching, proclaiming what the Bible says in a way where people can understand it (07:11-09:03). He mentions that we must not become a Biblical critic or attempt to defend the Bible, but only preach the Bible well, not cleverly. He declares that the reason why some Baptists have chased the "tongues movement" is because we have failed to preach accurately about the Holy Spirit (09:04-13:38). He emphasizes the importance of experiencing Christ's power now instead of relying too heavily on Christianity's rich past or on Christianity's rich future (13:39-17:19). He also says there must be a renewal of the eschatological emphasis in our preaching accompanied by courage, and we must be willing to disturb people with the boldness of the Biblical message by holding some "over Hell until they can smell fire and brimstone" (17:20-24:23). He closes in prayer (24:24-25:00).

4. SEBTS Forum - Quentin Lockwood, Robert E. Wiley, & Sara Ann Hobbs November 2, 1982

This forum was part of the Ministry with the Small Rural Church Workshop. Quentin Lockwood was Director of the Rural Missions Department of the Home Mission Board. Robert E. Wiley Robert E. Wiley was Associates Director of the Rural Missions Department in the Associational Missions Division of the Home Mission Board. Sara Ann Hobbs was the Director of the Division of Missions for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. The forum begins with introduction from all the speakers and the students participating (0:00:00-0:09:46). The moderator opens the forum for questions and topics for discussion, and he gives an opening talk about the importance of the church (0:09:47-0:16:55). Throughout most of the forum, the speakers and students discuss various topics of which include the definition of a small church, the needs of small churches, and the future of small churches (0:16:56-1:59:21). The conversation begins to wrap up, and the moderator thanks everyone for coming and contributing to the forum (1:59:22-2:02:23).

Findley Bartow Edge was the Basil Manley Jr. Professor of Christian Education at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The service begins with a word of prayer (00:00-00:50). Findley Bartow Edge is introduced as the Spring Conference lecturer (00:51-04:25). Edge begins his lecture by speaking about his love for the faculty at Southeastern, and he says that his lecture will be about the complicated subject of “renewal” in the church (04:26-10:13). 7. SEBTS Missionary Day Address - Tony Brewington December 2, 1980

Description:
Tony Brewington was the Director of Mission for the Burnt Swamp Baptist Association. The service begins with a reading from Luke 4:17-19, and a word of prayer is given (00:00-02:50). Brewington proposes that the church should have kaleidoscopic view that is centered on true outreach and the love of Jesus (21:36-26:25). The second point of Brewington’s message is that the church has become a hostage of the world, and he believes the only way out is for God to be behind the church’s mission (26:26-35:59). The final point of Brewington’s message is that the world is a hostage of sin, and the solution is to let Jesus loose to lead the church in the mission of saving the lost (36:00-48:11).
